I finished Glasslands a few days ago. It's definitely the start of a series. By that, I mean there is a lot of setup and not much action compared to all the other Halo novels. Which isn't a bad thing, don't get me wrong. I thought Cole Protocol sucked ass and I thoroughly enjoyed Glasslands more. You can certainly tell it was a woman writing this. Far less detail on the technical stuff and more focus on the morality. Which isn't a gender stereotype so sorry if it comes across as one, it's just in my experience of reading sci-fi tie-ins, the woman authors are usually much better at inner-character work and it shows here.
It makes me feel bad because I never considered any of the issues during the first series. I was just all for the Spartans saving humanity and not really considering the implications of it all.
Can't wait for the series to get some steam.
