Doom 3 BFG Edition

Blasting through everybody in the first game, holy f**k the speed.

I recommend you to use Zandronum to run DooM 1 and DooM 2. It have OnenGL rendering support and widescreen support as well. Also you may enable particle effects as well. D1 and 2 feel like a totally new game with this stuff. You can ask DooMRlz, he will tell you

You should look into the HD version, it's really awesome.

Yup the HD version is worth it for the steady frame rate alone. Pretty sure if the game had played like that when it was first released it would have gotten much higher review scores.

Obviously the game still has that washed out look as if everything is foggy all the time but the character models in particular look great in HD and you don't get that texture pop in that was so blatant on the original game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it, but when you're not fighting enemies it's as slow as a sloth taking a shit, especially when I'm playing both Doom 1 and 2 at the same time to finish them all faster. And the fact that I have to hold the joystick down to run only hurts my thumb after a while and forces me to walk everywhere.

Ahh. I was going to suggest mods to bring out Doom 3's full potential, but it seems the problem is that you picked the wrong platform.
