Is it possible to move the poll from the locked thread to this one.... I mean that was a legitimate reason to open another thread.

Thanks guys!

I thought the video was excellent. I don't really care about the crummy dialog, these people are f'n drunk. I mean come on.

They're all gonna die.

HuDaFuK

To be honest, they sounded like a bunch of guys getting drunk and having a laugh. Nothing about it stood out as wrong for what was going on. I don't get the beef.

watching the fat guy with teh cowboy hat die will be a joy

Can't wait to see them all die, crew seems as dumb as those on the Prometheus...Walter seems boring, not interesting like David.

Dumb because ? Few jokes?
So the sulaco crew is dumb i guess ..

Crew on alien seemed natural, not forced behavior, the covenant crew was cringy...

I'm feeling very positive after seeing that.  I liked the characters and their interaction - a big improvement on Prometheus IMO.

Looking across social media there seems to be a good overall reaction to this as well.

Seemed like a bunch of guys having a few beers to me.

cliffhanger

it did nothing to me. also, each to their own, but i can't place having homosexuals aboard a colony ship. you want to 'colonize' a planet. that doesn't go with 2 gay people. simple as that.

don't understand why james franco parts so fast, and dont get why they cant party without him knowing/approving.
also, the choking scene was bad. a literal copy of 'the food ain't that bad' from alien is not done imho, it's really lousy from ridley's part even.

no i did not enjoy it. i didnt hate it either. it was absolutely nothing.

HuDaFuK

I don't get why people are getting so hung up on a homosexual couple.

If you're trying to colonise a planet, a dozen people isn't going to cut it anyway. You'd have to have an unhealthy amount of inbreeding to generate a sustainable population. Saying 12 people is enough to start a long-term colony is way more dumb than two of them being gay.

I'd assumed they have some other means of populating the planet on board. Either viable embryos or other people in stasis.

There's plenty of colonists and embryos in cryos-storage in the Covenant. I think these guys are just our specialists. Waterston explained that Daniels was the expert who operated all the terraforming technology.

But yeah, it's a complete non-issue. It's inline with Ridley's vision of a much more sexually free future and it's not unusual now.

References to original chestbuster scene are retarded and dumb

Anyone catch the "Alien" reference when shes choking?  ;D  ;D  ;D

Ahha ....

Also earlier in the piece the chick talking about rumours of large cockroaches ... sorry didn't pick the exact lines ... but indicates this happens perhaps later in the timeline than expected?

Olde

Voted it fell short for me. Many cons: fakeburster, forced dialogue, James Franco seems out of place (seems miscast to me), and the fat guy with the hat seems like an asshole whose only reason for being on the ship is so that the audience has something to look forward to. None of the characters had any real defining traits and they're all interchangeable.

Also, I'm just going to say it: Katherine Waterston looks like a boy with that stupid short haircut that's too long to be a pixie cut and too short to be a bob, and that triggers me. And I'm glad to see that of the greatest members of the human race, the best ones fit to colonise an entirely new planet includes an alcoholic couple. This prologue was pretty dumb, although I'll give the movie a chance.

Also, what's with the ham-fisted religious symbolism? "Covenant"? "Last Supper"? "Paradise Lost"? Does Scott have some sort of God complex?
