These aren't normal bullets, they're 10mm explosive tipped caseless... standard light armor piecing. I'd expect them to do more damage than a regular bullet. Now I wish I had some acrylic and a m41a to test this theory.  Well I have the acrylic, just not the gun.

Blame Alien 3.  Both its mystery egg and Bishop's duplicitous creator showing up to demonstrate his obsession with the alien triggered a lot of people who were otherwise content to let Bishop remain a good guy.
