Love Actually
First time I've watched it from start to finish. Did it to appease my lovely wife. Quite a clever but messed up film. Stellar cast and performance.

The Duellists, pretty rough for the first twenty minutes or about that, but otherwise very good.

Very cool Australian Jaws copycat.

The Insider

I've been thinking for a while now that my top three Michael Mann films are interchangeable between Heat, Thief, and Mohicans. Well, it may be a top four now, because this was incredible. Career best work from Russell Crowe, he really lost himself in the role.

Also I lol'd when Plummer gets indignant about his interview getting cut short, only for the movie itself to cut him off mid sentence.

Miami Vice (2006) - Unrated Director's Edition

Stylish and with some good action, but overall kind of empty. The story was... something about smuggling? I think? And that shit tier cover of In the Air tonight did not help.

Blackhat - Director's Cut

Not all that great, but not the dumpster fire I was kind of expecting. The parade climax was pretty badass, though.

Neverending story. Great classic.

Manhunter

Very good overall, but I feel like Dolarhyde gets a bit shortchanged in the adaptation. And this is entirely subjective, but his weird house just annoys me for some reason.

Even better on a second watch. That three hours goes by like nothing.

Also the sound design is so intense it jarred loose a wire on our subwoofer.

A fun fantasy film, though those Scorpion King effects are still so atrocious

I really like that up until about the halfway point, then it goes completely off the rails for me.

Yeah, you can tell Sommers was scrambling to get a plot together for that one.

Under the Silver Lake

Well that was... odd. Can't say I didn't enjoy it, though.

Yes, Under the Silver Lake is a strange film. It's kind of a stoner detective comedy like The Big Lebowski but also like a David Lynch nightmare mystery (Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive).

I like weird mysteries.
I also enjoyed Silver Lake.
