People trying to connect which is perhaps the worst movie ever (AVP) with which still stands as the best and most important horror film ever made (Alien) is kind of fun to witness. It is like mixing crap with caviar.
Weren't the AVP movies made for the kids?
I strongly suspect that the vast majority of people who are trying to connect 'AVP' with 'Prometheus' are at the very least, under the age of 23. In that sense, yes; 'AVP' was made for kids.
If there's some person who's over the age of 30 who respects 'AVP' enough to try and integrate it with 'Alien', then... well, I pity them.

Personally, I'd sooner let go of Prometheus from Alien continuity than the AVP films and in connection to that the Predator Concrete Jungle game and AVP2010.
What kind of sense does that make?! So, Ridley Scott has less authority over the 'Alien' universe than Paul Anderson, the Brothers Strause and the developers of a Predator game?! Are you insane?! Aren't you the same person who is forever beating that ridiculous corporate drum of "Fox decides what's canon. End of."?
I guess that you follow that Fox mantra religiously, until the moment that you disagree with it and it no longer suits you.
I do understand that at the end of the day, you're entitled to consider certain elements of the fictional universe as canon and not others. However, that won't ever stop me from considering you to be insane in the membrane, my good Sir.
Quote from: predxeno on Mar 01, 2012, 04:25:27 PMI wish Ridley Scott would be more clear on whether or not the film is an Alien Prequel.
You do realise that you're just about the only person on this planet who's following this film and still isn't sure as to whether 'Prometheus' is an 'Alien' prequel or not? I just can't get my head around how you're so freakishly liberal towards the series canon, to the extent that it's both adorable and frustrating to read (though, mostly the latter); yet, you're so foolishly stubborn against common sense and what's staring you right in the face.

Alien is one franchise
Predator is another franchise
and AvP is yet another franchise.
Why is this hard to comprehend?
What's hard to comprehend is how this can be so when the directors of both AVP movies never envisioned them that way.
You honestly give a hoot as to what "talented" film
makersdestroyers such as Anderson and Tweedle-Dee & Tweedle-Dum envisioned? I only wish that they'd "envision" their way into early retirement.

AvP is not canon in the Alien franchise, much as they tried by casting Henrikssen as a Weyland.

^I still don't see how that can be so.
EDIT:

The AvP franchise has its own board. This isn't it.
Sorry, I only just read this but yes, I completely agree. I apologise for "feeding the troll" as it were but I sincerely wish that people like PredXeno would stop bringing up the topic of 'AVP' and 'Predator' within the 'Prometheus' thread. Take it else where PredXeno, please.
