How is the the planet housing the derelict ship in 'Alien' and the same planet (dubbed LV-426) in 'Aliens' a cause for confusion? REALLY?!? Of course they're one & the same planet!

Don't you remember the whole Weyland-Yutani legal hearing Ripley went to in the beginning of 'Aliens', or her dialogue w/ Burke later in the film ("You sent those people there, Burke...you knew what was in there!"). Beyond that, in the extended version of 'Aliens', they show Newt family (the Jordens) prospecting the derelict (and they show the ship).

As to the derelict in 'Alien' NOT being the same ship as that shown in the 'Prometheus' trailer - that's ludicrous: What, the Engineer/Jockey people just make a habit of crashing their ships wherever they go? That actually makes SENSE to you? HOW?

I believe I already covered that in my post just a few prior to yours.  Does anyone read anyone's posts anymore?

At the beginning of the trailer 0:20 the Prometheus appears to be approaching what looks like a circular cloud formation on the planet's atmosphere. This is possibly caused by the terraforming device? Maybe that device is the large round saucer object at the top of the falls?

Visible on the still from the trailer at 1:09 on the viewscreen in the vehicle Noomi is operating, looks like what appears to be some digital images/maps of the planet with a large circular area marked out. Could be related to this then again could be something else entirely.

lol.

there is much more chance this ship in prometheus crashed for a reason or may have been "stopped" by the crew (there is already strong evidence suggesting this in the trailer)

and not be the same ship.

alot more likely possibility than this ship being the same one in ALIEN, does it make more snese to you that what is meant ot be the "same ship" is actually different and only very similar at best?

do two aeroplanes make eachother the same ship? no.

and neither do two helicoptors or two cars.

its two different ships imo.

Could the round black, disc shape that appears above the waterfall perhaps be the opening to a wormhole??  Just a thought.

Ich will Prometheus.

bleau

The ship looks the same, so I am going to assume it's the same ship.

HMRUBICON

Just some speculations and observations.

First of all I hope the bald man is not the jockey. That would be lame. Please make the jockey a mysterious extraterrestrial and not a man. If it is a man, I'll be almost as dissapointed as I was when I watched CONTACT's ending. >:( :'(

With that said in the red circle in this picture, is that a person hiding in the sarcophagus or a film crew member? ???

In the yellow circle. Is that possibly a space jockey mask with the trunk sticking up in the air? As if when someone or thing sits in the chair it flips down over the user's face? ???

In the green circle, just a wild thought. What if the jockeys are in these sarcophagus/cryo chambers and jettisoned into the jockey chair and ready to fly the ship? :D

In the purple circle. Is that a head under that glass looking dome and is it a creature in a cryo chamber, possibly a jockey?  ;D

maybe, nice idea, i like it.

it probably serves some sort of purpose for the ship

Also, there would surely be signs of a previous exploration when the Nostromo crew encountered the derelict, especially if they found the egg chamber.  And finally, one of the shots in the trailer shows either lightning or some kind of electrical disturbance (terraforming?) in the clouds above the planet.  LV-426 had neither lightning nor terraforming.

What evidence are you referring to?

the debris of one of the crews ship is amongst the debris of the alien ship.

this suggests collision.

this guy..
Expect all that blood on the female character (almost certainly Rapace) to be removed digitally if Rothman orders a PG-13 cut. There is a precedent - Die Hard 4.0.

They did exactly the same thing and the evidence is here, it's in German, but you get the picture, literally:

http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=4522

this doesn't need to be blood.it could also be dirt.notice her elbow and her palm.then her assand her back.she crawled through dirt, layed down on her back in dirt

now for all the people arguing about the ship.look at these 2 interiors.do they look like the insides of the same ship?the platform is different, the wall design is different.

it is possible that if the ship on lv 426 was there for millenia, then the one the crew encounters now is more advanced, different designs and so on..

and yeah wierd disk above the waterfall, and roads on a alien planet.and i'm dissapointed in the human guy near the chair.his face doesn't look entirely, the lines of his nose, dunno seems weird.he does look to have a biomechanoid suit, but he still seems to small for that chair.look at his arms, not like the ones of the space jockey.small and they lack those biomechanic details

now this is got to be the stand out movie of 2012.batman we already know what the deal is,seen it before, the hobbit isn't exactly fresh anymore.but when is the last time you saw a horror sci fi movie set in deep space,on other worlds, with other civilizations and profound themes?

Stalker

Holy shit it really is an Alien prequel, I am officially excited again. That trailer was awesome.

Well there are differences, but could still be same ship. Ship in Alien was crashed, could explain different look, proportions.

so what if it's crashed?the design of the interiors and size wouldn't change.they are different
