lame! it was just a satair news article. saying G.R.R Martin was a time traveller that wrote the books to spoil the series.

Sorry, I've finally caught up now. Only took a week+ of binge-watching the entire series.

I've had my reasons for not watching, but HBO produces too high a quality of shows for those reasons to stand for long.

Spoiler
Honestly, all of the Joffrey theories here are great, but with such massive tension within the Lannister family and another, much less sadistic and out-of-control heir in line, my money's on a family affair. ;)

What would those reasons be, if you don't mind me asking?

Also...

Spoiler
If it is a family affair, the only one I could see being behind it is Tywin. Cersei would never murder her son, Jamie was still on the road with Brienne when Joffrey died in the books and Tyrion, well, it's not his style.

Played out much better in the show than when I read it. I never felt it was harsh enough but they certainly made it look that way.

Spoiler
I actually felt it was the other way around. Didn't he he scratch his own throat bloody or something in the book as well?

Spoiler
I too found it to be more harsh in the book. I actually had to put the book down a few times and go get a drink of water while I was reading it...

The show did do a really great job with the scene as well, though.
