Are you absolutely sure he killed all the wildlings in the show? Weren't there like ten or fifteen of them at least? I don't remember if he killed them all myself.

Maybe he just liked Tormund to much to kill him on the spot. Or he didn't want to take the risk of having to fight Ygritte, even if it's unlikely she would have turned against him right then.
