It would be hard to go back and recapture the magic and intensity of the original Die Hard.  Alan Richman owned every scene he was in.  The way he walked in, took control, and slowly counted before shooting Mr. Nokitomi, or whatever (been a long time since I watched it again)  and calmly stating we'll do it the hard way.  I also like the scene where the cokehead guy thought he was going to handle Hans and was shot in the face.  Even the other bad guys were great, like the blond, long haired german guy who freaked out when his brother was killed, and Mrs. Mclain/Genero knew John was still alive, cuz only John can piss somebody off that bad!  Every minute of that movie you were hoping Mclain would get out alive.  He, like the hostages, had no where else to go, so he had to fight to live.  That kind of suspense hasn't been in any of the other films, even though I like them all and enjoy them.

My favourite line has to be, "I am an exceptionally good thief my dear. And since I'm moving up to kidnapping, you should be a little more polite!"

"How do you use this thing?"

"What, you've never fired one before?"

"Not all brothas know how to use a gun, ya racist motherf**ka."

Should anyone yell *Shoot ze glass!* at me, while in the proximity of large glass panels, I will absolutely grab the nearest heavy object and throw it at them! ;D

I never understood why he repeats that line in English. Did it not make sense in German or something?

True - but Hans and Karl as well as Tony, do speak to each other in English during the film. But I think they switched from German to English with that specific line to emphasize Hans emphasizing the command to Karl and it might be lost on a non-German speaking audience, if repeated in German. So, it's really for the English speaking audience, me thinks.

Besides, *Fenster* is German for window - not glass. Glass is *Glas*, I believe. But who cares - it's awesome anyway.

It also doesn't help that it was grammatically incorrect German
