Not entirely sure that going with the angle of portraying Vlad The Impaler as a kind of hero (or anti-hero), while giving villain duties to some one-dimensional Turkish Sultan, does the Dracula character any favors. I didn't get the ending either -

Spoiler
- he just meets Mina by chance on the street? No Jonathan Harker? No initial meeting between Harker and Dracula, leading Dracula to Mina? Are they simply ignoring Bram Stoker's book with this retelling of his story? I don't get it, Universal...

I'm ashamed to say I have not seen Herzog's Nosferatu or any of the Hammers films...

Anyway, this was one of those movies my brother inexplicitly wanted to see. I didn't go with him, but he said it wasn't all terrible. Not great but not entirely good either... that if Universal is really trying to revive their classic monsters future sequels/spinoffs/whatever will have to be a lot better to gain audience momentum.

Get on that Herzog's Nosferatu goodness.

Vampyr is also another stupendous film. Top 10 best vampire films for sure.

Didn't he say that if Vlad drank the blood, he would be set free or something?
