I know that I'm probably gonna be very unpopular for what I'm about to say here but I'm gonna do it anyway because for me it has to be said.

All you good people that participate in this site, (and I'd just like to say that it really is a f@ckin great site for the fans of both franchises),  don't you think that a crossover was just a really bad idea in the first place? Not just because AVP sucked but because, basically, thats now it for both of them? We will never see another Alien or Predator stand alone movie.

Both franchises have had their storylines and timelines dumped on! (How could the real Bishop appear in Avp AND Alien3 for instance!) I'm a fan of the comics of both, and the expanded universe of books and comics gripped me growing up and still does today.

But come on, the idea of the two squaring of against each other on film was awesome, but at the same time, it was an interesting idea, though you didn't deep down actually want to see it. And that's just what it was, an idea. But now it's happened, it's a real life case of "Be careful what you wish for!"

Am I the only one that doesn't wanna see an Alien or a Predator movie next to "Frankenstien vs Godzilla" when I go to rent or buy a movie in 5 or 10 years? It's not that often that a film or a film series grabs you and influences you that much that you would be compelled to seek out a community of like minded people just to be able to talk with someone that feels the same kind of passion for it as you.

I for one will watch AVP:R, and I probably will enjoy it for what it is. But it will be bittersweet because it just can't do justice to the people that really have made the franchises a part of their lives. Because, deep down, none of us wanted this to happen.

As I said at the start, you can rip me as much as you want, because a lot of you guys maybe really wanted to see this. But no-one can deny that it's the end of BOTH era's, and that's a shame.

Cheers,

Andy

Craig

It's a cool concept, it just needs to be executed correctly.

Dasani

In the end, it's just going to be a big, fun, loud, guy movie. Not on the same level as Predator or Alien, but God damn will it be fun.... 8)

This was exactly the conversation I was just having with my brother....

Took the words right out of my mouth.... but, I have the feeling that the time has passed to see these creatures expanded further. Makes me wander what the Requiem in the title stands for....?

The end of an era my friend, these are the days of Torture Porn and Reality T.V.

So sad it must end with a whimper, not a bang.

I'm 22, and I first saw Aliens at 8 and Predator at the same time more or less, and the magic of both just grabbed me and pulled me in.

I just think it's sad, more for the fans like me and you, that it's pretty much over.

I'm gutted. That's all I can really say.  :'(

The games, books, and comics have done this crossover justice, but it seems the movies can't. Its fascinating why people cant make this crossover work on the big screen. However, I will still see this film and appreciate it for what it is: a crossover horror film. Nothing more, nothing less. I think to make a true AVP film, we need someone who understands both the alien and the predator like the originals did. Coupled with a coherent storyline, and that should do it. 8)

the original AVP concept could have been a great sci-fi epic.
Now we got AVP, and its "questionable" sequel.

My God, it could've been soooo much better then what we got if it was in different hands.

Spoiler

With the possible ending that has been talked about, I think it is a fitting end to two creatures who are not meant for today's audiences.... I hope, as much as I love them, to maybe not seem them on the big screen after this one - though this one seems to have tried to set things 'right'.

Weasel

Anything with predator/alien carnage going on is going to spark my interest.

Amen to that brother. Necronomicon your post was a very interesting one with what you said, but I mean where all here, where all fans of the aliens and the predator, so were a part of todays audience, so it still fits. It just needs people who are passionate and understand the two monsters the most. Maybe a collaberation with the past directors.
