We never see what happens to her, we just see the tail about to stab her in the back and then we hear a scream. Its speculated that she was paralysed since in the novels (which i consider non-canon like the comics and games) the tail of an alien is poisonous and can render a human unconscious, which is what happened to gorman in the novel of aliens. Well since the ship blew up she is definitely dead.

I forward your attention to the scene in the Narcissus. Ripley in vest and knickers (nipples and camel toe present) slowly, almost seductively steps into a pod and slowly dons a spacesuit. While she is doing this the Alien extends its inner jaw ever so slowly (a kin to an erection) while breathing heavily and slowly.

Alien rez had the undertones, but most shown through ripley, the AVPs didn't whatsoever
