I have vague memories of video tapes getting chewed when I was younger - although that was when I was a nipper, on what must have been a pretty old VCR. Sometimes it would knacker the tape, sometimes you could smooth it out again and it'd work OK. I guess it's just a risk with cassette tapes in general. I mean, how many car stereos used to eat cassettes?
That said, I don't ever remember ever having a problem with the VCRs I owned myself more recently. Newer models, I guess.

Yes actually. Although they weren't in the last issue I bought, I only just got around to reading the two "Under the Knife" Xenomorph dissection articles written by Jim Campbell, and they're great. The first was about the adult (mostly focussing on its blood chemistry) and the second was about the Egg ("Ovomorph", love that word) and Facehugger. Really interesting reads. Some of it was carried over into the
Colonial Marines Tech Manual, but there it was in the form of chat between some W-Y guys, it was much more engaging to read it as a complete faux report. Talking of report, I must compare what the articles say to the
W-Y Report at some point, see if they tie up or contradict at all.
I've now added the fact we didn't get more of these articles (I assume there would have been more, the blurb for Under the Knife II mentioned how popular they were) to Crusade never being finished and Matrix never being released as the biggest disappointments surrounding the magazine's cancellation.
