I don't post here as often as some of you, so I'm not as familiar as you regulars with everyone's location. It would be a great help if you remember to leave some clue as to where in the world you are posting from; it would make your reports of conditions you are facing so much more meaningful.

Oh. Almost forgot, heh heh. I'm in New Zealand  :D

And stay safe.

Oh yes, Cancerblack. Auckland, aren't you? I guess that's as close to a "hotzone" as we got in NZ. I was at the local Pak 'n Save on Monday, down here at Kapiti. Forget about 2 metre social distancing when you are surrounded by hundreds of shoppers bumper to bumper at the checkouts. The pharmacy was a bit better, except for all the excited under 10s who ran around like mad chooks getting under peoples' legs.

On the bright side, with more time on my hands I'll be able to contribute more to this forum   ;D

Better have conditions this time.  I don't trust corporations not to use it to do stock buybacks while laying off their employees.  Again.

They also got rid of one of their infantry mos.  0351.

Description seemed like what a Sapper would be doing when attached to an infantry unit in the Army.

And after looking at it online...........it looks like the Corps is adopting the Army's way of doing things.  Getting rid of the demo guys in the infantry, and attaching Combat Engineers to infantry companies.

I don't know its better to have a confused mos in the infantry that has multiple roles, or to have a confused position in the engineers have multiple roles.

Don't worry, they'll have conditions that the American people need immediately... like funding an art center, newspaper employee pensions, free phones, diversity provisions, etc. etc. At least some will try. >:(

This isn't really news, just needed a place to rant for a few paragraphs.

An old college friend's dad died from the virus today.  She said he was a fit and healthy 71-year-old. I didn't know him and I haven't spoken to her in many years, but this has really hit home now that this thing is on my doorstep. And with vulnerable parents and family members (my brother is diabetic and my mother has an autoimmune disorder), not to mention I'm an asthmatic, I can't help but feel a great deal of dread as the cases and deaths quickly mount.

Also, my son was born on Friday, which actually puts my wife at high-risk for the next 11 weeks according to the mid-wife. So we're in lockdown. It should be a time in which I should be introducing him to the world, but I'll gladly sacrifice that in the current climate. My wife is currently in hospital with our son, who is receiving phototherapy treatment and with every time I visit them we hear of more and more patients being admitted with the telltale symptoms. I just cannot wait to get them out of there and back home.

Congrats!  :)

Nah, rural bay of plenty. I'm glad i'm not in a city any more, although i feel like where i am will either not get it at all or get it really f**ken hard. Fingers crossed, coz i look after my dad who's in several vulnerable demographics.

We would, but Americans think common sense finance laws are tantamount to ~socialism~. Sorry.

Congrats on the baby! Sorry to hear about rest of the difficulties. Keep safe until this chaos is done with!
