I would rather see real change than to try to get to the other side of it.

Of course the cynic in me  doesn't have any hope for humanity and thinks Cameron was right. It's in our nature to destroy ourselves.

It's an absolute shit show. All of it. It's disheartening. Too much nanny state, too much revenue generation, too much militarization, too much power, is what created the cesspool that ignited this. There needs to be an more even playing field between the state and the people.

Yeah it's a shit show. If I had the education or means to move to another country like Canada I would.

This country has lost it's way and the person in charge is utterly vile.

The US is a country that's infected with cruelty, through and through, and has been for a long time. I wish I could say it's just the person in charge. Yeah, the cops in this country murder Black Americans in the streets, on video, with complete impunity (Chauvin is the first ever cop in Minnesota to be charged for shooting a Black person as far as I know). But also, look at he chorus of chicken hawks in this country. Rich white politicians haven't gotten enough out of waging wars abroad, so we keep doing it for no reason. We tax unemployment, a definitively cruel, byzantine practice. Anyone is welcome to add to the laundry list if it hasn't been added to yet, but I'll end on the cruelty of the FTC which allows multi-level marketing schemes to persist, because they collect tax revenue from it regardless of how many families are ruined along the way.

With all due respect, if it's just this moment that makes you want to live somewhere else, you've probably been in a comfortable enough positon to live with the wool pulled over your eyes.

EDIT:

The final sentence is written with the awareness that I am a person in that position.

Things are ugly here in Brazil with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Our daily cases and deathcount are skyrocketing, our president doesn't give a shit and is more worried with saving his own butt. We're without a health minister for more than 20 days, there's no plan to face the pandemic, and a lot of states are reopening the stores blindly, somehow hoping that it won't get worse. There's people here who doesn't believe in the pandemic, supported by our stupid president's declaration that it's nothing but a small flu, and to make things even worse it seems the government have decided to stop divulging the numbers of death and new cases, even saying that the statistics are wrong and the numbers of deaths is smaller, when every specialist says they're actually bigger..
Me and most of my family now have to get back to work in the middle of all this crap. I'm a little afraid for us, I don't know what will happen here in Brazil, but I think it's going to be bad :/
I don't know what to think anymore. Just wanted to get this weigth out of my chest.

Sorry to hear this. Google says Bolsonaro has been your president since Jan 2019. How long until you can vote him out? I hope your elections are fair and democratic, and just as importantly, that Brazilians recognise a bad egg when they see one.

Speaking of which, if anyone thinks the shit show in the US is bad, wait until the week following 3rd November 2020. If Trump wins, the protests will make today's gatherings look like a family Xmas parade. If Trump loses, then the same thing, except protesters will be hitting the streets armed with their 2nd amendment rights, safeties off.

So if you are in the US, remember: You've got 6 months left to replenish that hoard of toilet paper.

New elections should happen in 2022 only. Hoping for an impeachment before that...

Yeah, that pretty much what's happening here. Sadly, some of us won't have a choice not getting into the water.

Trump is losing support from his own base. He had much potential during the first portion of his term, but has steadily devolved into full blown man-childness.

And supporters of the 2nd amendment abhor the idea of the president invoking martial law to quell lawful protest, because a future president may then do the same to us. I've heard it said by several gun owners already that this alone has cost him their vote this november.

No member of the 2nd ammendment community will be protesting a Trump loss and carrying firearms in the street. They'll go about their lives and he'll simply become another politician who's mouth cost him the presidency.
