Does anyone else find pancakes boring? Outside of Scotch or American, I just don't like pancakes. And I don't wanna smoother them in sugar or sauce or whatever to be edible. I'd much rather a waffle with some sugar in the batter.

Without anything on - yes they're boring.  Which is why you don't eat them without anything on.

I don't wanna smoother them in chocolate or fruit. Just want a pleasant batter. Waffles it is.

I used to feel the same way until someone made me some proper pancakes. I don't know what was in the batter or what made it different, but I could and did actually enjoy them plain. And blueberries in the batter was even better. So I think it comes down to who's making them and with what.

Yup. True pancakes are different from Hot Cakes. More like crepe than the American type. I actually prefer the first one.

Have you tried French toast?

Waffles and pancakes alone are just so...dry. Eating them feels like all the moisture is just being evaporated from my mouth.

Do you prefer powdered sugar, syrup, whipped cream or all three?

With pancakes, I prefer banana and walnuts in the batter, or PB/apple on top. I honestly don't eat too many waffles. Waffles with honey are nice though.

One thing I detest is when both are loaded with butter so they can be moist on their own without toppings, specifically when dining out. I'd rather they be as plain and healthy as possible, so I can mess them up on my own (i.e. toppings) thank you very much  :P

Me thinks buttermilk is the key.

Indeed, you is.

Should I start with waffles, pancakes, biscuits, or fried chicken?

Dealers choice. But buttermilk biscuits are pretty good, as I recall.

Do they even have condiments in the UK?  When I was there they at least had HP Sauce on the table.

Worcestershire Sauce, Marmite, Colman's Mustard and vinegar.

All of which is great on pancakes and waffles.
