Binged all 8 episodes, played the games for twenty years nad read The Books. I think its a great adaptation.
When we played the games the mythos was fluid and still forming and the player was Master Chief. By the time of this series the mythos is established and John needs to be a character not the viewer.
I know it gets a lot of hate, but I enjoyed it immensely.
Pablo as John 117 does a good job, having Jen Taylor voice Cortana as she has in all the games is so soothing, like having a close friend speaking in each episode. I really like the Natascha McElhone
Who is playing Dr. Halsey; he goal for humanity seems a realistic motivation.
I very much liked the commentary on what does it mean to be human, do we need to shed aspects of our humanity to transcend and is love & attachment more important or letting love go to save mankind worth it? So many themes I will be pondering a while.
