I can't remember the last time a trailer went from "This looks alright" to "oh, that's why people are complaining" quite so subtly, yet assuredly.

I actually liked Halloween Kills a bit more than Halloween 2018. Kills is just full on grindhouse schlock, but I find myself ready to go for that more than the Force Awakens-esque remix of the original film that was 2018. The main thing that 2018 did that I dug, other than the overall tone/look of the film which felt right on the money to me (and Carpenter's really killer score), was its late in the movie revelation (which set the stage for more interesting sequels to follow) that

Of the Halloween films I've seen, I'd probably rank them as follows:

Halloween (1978) / Halloween 3: Season of the Witch
Halloween Ends
Halloween Kills
Halloween
(2018)
Halloween II
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later

What can I say? Season of the Witch rocks. 8) That and Trick 'r Treat are my annual Halloween night double feature actually.
