As with the PS4, the X1 will need a day one patch. But, unlike the PS4, the X1 is literally a paperweight if you don't get the patch, as you can't even play disc based games without it, on the PS4 you can.

f**k me next generation and it cannot even work if you don't get a patch. Can you watch a Blu-ray on it or does it still require a patch?

Just takes a few minutes connected to the internet. Did you honestly never update your 360? I'd be surprised if the latest games worked on a non-patched 2005 machine (if there are any left that didn't catch RROD), there are certainly plenty of them that launch with day 1 patches.

yeh I have internet connection and always update stuff on my Xbox but I still want to wait before I buy a next generation console. Just learn some things and see what the reviews and customer thoughts are about the two new machines. Though I would not want to be someone who is in an area with bad internet.
I have ok internet but Australia's  internet from what I know lags behind countries like the U.S and UK. Its good enough but I guess many other countries have pretty crappy internet.
