QuoteGeorge [Miller] and I would have these big conversations about why this particular set-piece was so long

Because self-indulgence. Duuuh

Quote from: via gamesradar+"So Furiosa was ready, in a story sense, 15 years ago" Doug Mitchell tells Total Film in our new issue out on Thursday April 25, which features Furiosa on the cover. "And it's been percolating, the way things do in George's brain, ever since."

"We had finished the script of Furiosa before we shot Fury Road," Miller confirms over Zoom from Sydney.

Some art from that anime iteration of the project was posted earlier in the thread here:

QuoteKey crew positions go to production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo, and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt. The four previously won an Oscar for their work on "Mad Max: Fury Road." First assistant director is PJ Voeten and second unit director and stunt coordinator is Guy Norris.

Some great production design on Fury Road. Hopefully we'll get to see the Boeing 747 rig (that was concepted for Fury Road but not included) in the new film:

A perfect rig for a new Bruce Spence character, if I do say so myself. It is kind of still a plane, at least. :D

I do wonder if any of this film (be it design or narratively) will come from the Furiosa anime film that George Miller wanted to make a while back that obviously never took off?

Looks like Miller has evolved beyond the Bruce Spence/Hugh Keays-Byrne school of casting the same actor to play two different roles in the franchise, and graduated into casting the same actor to play two roles in the same film.
