Yeah, the showing is 2.5 hours from now. I'm trying to pass the time.

I saw it, and it looked extremely promising.  There were two clips, one of the shuttle taking off and landing, the other was the introduction of the neomoprhs.  The latter was more violent and disturbing than I was expecting.  The score sounded great too.  Really encouraging.

The score was awesome, I agree. Also that scene was far more violent than I was expecting as well. I knew it would be brutal, but that was almost pornographic (in a good way.)

The audience definitely gave the footage a seal of approval at my screening. I haven't heard such excited cheers and hopeful chatter outside a screening in a while.

"I discovered recently that's exactly what NASA are doing," Scott said. "You can make a fabric that is stronger than metal and you can fold it up into a massive box and it will fold away like a good sail on a sailing ship so I apply that kind of thinking and there we have it. It works. And then you get it in the hands of the visual effects people and it all looks pretty good. So we're going to send it to NASA to see if I can speed up the process for them."

Ah yes, special effects guy improving NASA's special effects devision to once again try to fool us they're actually doing stuff and travelling out there. Great job, Ridley, sending another job application to get even more moneeyyyy.

nevertheless, not complaining regadring the movies however.

Did we actually just cross over into NASA conspiracy theory territory?

Wow.

I also caught a screening of Alien here in Helsinki for Alien Day, I wasnt expecting them to show the Alien Covenant footage but they did! Preceeded by a message from Sir Ridley Scott! They showed the new prologue footage and the two scenes that show the landing and the neomorphs.

I agree with you, it was really nasty, but the gore wasnt anything in the likes of a slasher film or Saw, it was quite graphic in the sense that it was not over the top but extremely realistic and raw. Amazing use of both CGI and practical!

Quote from Scified:

QuoteTo hype up the pending release, studio 20th Century Fox recently released the Alien Universe website, an official platform which will be used to promote the forthcoming movie and its sequels. The site already features a fan art contest and details of the forthcoming Alien Covenant VR experience IN UTERO, in which users can experience the birth of the Neomorph from the creature's perspective.

Later today at 10 am PST (UTC-8) the website will stream a special one-hour event, including interviews with the new movies cast members and special trivia challenges for fans. It is also suspected the stream will feature the first ten to fifteen minutes of Alien Covenant.

So finally we'll get to see the footage that's been making the rounds @press events. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I've not watched the livestream over yet (still struggling with internet quality) so I don't know - did this pan out or is it yet another piece of nothing from Scified?

Does anyone know the earliest date of an official review of the film (imdb/RT)?
