I prefer the one of the TV series. This one is so exaggerated it's really out of the tone.

That's the point.

How do you mean?

Well, the TV show does take a lot of the more stylistic elements of the show and make them a bit more 'realistic' (which is to be expected in the transition from one medium to another). Things like the Iron Throne, the use/style of magic and prophecies, how elaborate some of the costumes and festivities are, etc., wouldn't have seemed right if literally translated into the TV show.

Or would have been too expensive, if nothing else.

Yup, definitely that too.

Still want more Azor Ahai and Three Betrayals references on screen, though. :P

The Iron Throne is supposed to be a big, bloated, and intimidating symbol of power. Those who sit on it look down upon everyone else. It's also extremely sharp, and thus dangerous, like power itself.

Yeah, but the swords making it up could only have been wielded by giants. It looks how people in Westeros would imagine it to look. I prefer the show's throne, but opinions.

This throne, despite being a fan art, is supposed to reflect the true vision of Geogre RR Martin ...

Should be my new icon or siggy.

I think that guy is doing some art for the A World of Ice and Fire book, so what was fan art is about to become official. ;D

Seems like the above picture will be in the book, but a slightly different version of it.

I personally really liked that design. I don't know if it is appropriate for the series, but no doubt would be great for a filmic adaptation IMO.

I absolutely love his Three Eyed Crow. The show's version was a bit too tame, in my opinion. Not bad at all, but there weren't enough roots growing through him. And I think he had both eyes intact.

AffC/ADwD spoilers:

Spoiler
His Arya piece in the House of Black and White is also great. Can't wait to see how the show handles that.

To be honest, I thought his performance was a bit wooden.

If he could only just take it back to the roots in the book, ya'know?
