Is there any improvement over the theatrical cut?

Well, I'm not 100% certain on all the added footage, but I am reasonably sure most of the added footage is in the intro, you see more of what polluted Earth looks like in the Avatar universe before Jake Sully heads to Pandora. But I could be wrong.

The World Is Not Enough (1999)

Wow, it's very cyberpunkish. I couldn't help googling  ;D

Yeah I feel they definitely pulled from Blade Runner a bit for those scenes.

I like the extended cut, but it's not exactly gonna convince anyone who doesn't already enjoy the film and it makes what's already a long movie even longer.

Still, the Earth stuff is cool, and the added stuff about what happened to Grace's native school on Pandora adds a bit to her character.

There's actually two extended cuts of that, one with the added Earth opening, and one without.

The Whisperer in Darkness (2011)

Strong adaptation overall, marred slightly by the fact they ran out of money and had to resort to some low budget CG near the end.

Decent movie. Wish they adapted more of his stories like this.
I can deal with the low budget and cheap effects as long as they stick to the story.

Like this short movie that adapted The Statement of Randolph Carter. It's simple but well done and effective.

Weaver's character development? I think I would like to see that. Things on Earth make me wonder if Jim is a fan of Blade Runner 🤔 which wouldn't be entirely surprising anyway given his Easter egg in Aliens.  ;D

Really love this one. I'd like to see the deleted footage one day, but I doubt Warner will ever release it if it still exists.

Shaw Bros. bloody chop socky action that curiously uses the Alien soundtrack at one point.
