Godzilla (2014)

I don't mind holding off on Godzilla himself, but it is kind of weird how the whole thing builds up to the MUTOs and then suddenly "Holy f**k, giant lizard!"

Edge of Tomorrow. Surprisingly good fun, I really expected it to quite dark and po faced - it wasn't at all. Great stuff.

King Kong 2005, man, skull island is such a cool location. I want to see more of it.

It can be found for more reasonable prices, but the book is gorgeously detailed/illustrated essential reading for any fan of the film and Skull Island (which I think is one of the best realized fictional locations in film).

The Guest

I kinda caught off guard for how awesome this was. I mean it got little to no marketing and I heard good things through word of mouth, from a few people on here. It plays like a straight up 80s thriller. From the credits, to the music to the ruggedly handsome lead who turns full on psycho during the last act. This was great, you dont see too many like this any more. By the same guys that did You're Next. They got another winner on their hands.
