She's said some pretty even and level things in the past. The thing with the Oscars is exemplary of the expectancy within the black community. There's so many aspects to each movie and the roles therein it's absolutely ignorant to think that an actor that fits certain roles very well should be passed passed up and that feeling conveyed lost simply because of the color of his or her skin. There's also something to be said about how race and gender can be intrinsic to certain roles.


That all said, I've found Ice Cube to make comments that stem from objective observations on hot-button issues. I've heard Ice T, Mike Tyson and others comment with logical statements that you wouldn't expect.

It's not exactly a fair comparison if you only count when the the war for independence was won in the now United States while ignoring the relative points in Russia. Russia has had civil wars, conquered others and failed multiple times and come back as a new country. If you want a point of reference that includes modern day Russia, that point would be the most recent collapse during the cold war. A new Russia with a new constitution has emerged. This new Russia has invaded several sovereign countries, unilaterally declared areas within other countries "independent" for the sake of "ethnic Russians" living there, annexed territory after declaring it independent while claiming lands and territories to expand contrary to claims of other countries and international law(Russia attempting to unilaterally overturn the United States reserved claim in antarctica is a perfect example of Russian expansionism with disregard for international law and norms).


Some people ignorantly equate cultural qualities being voluntarily assimilated with outright expansionism dictating a change in culture. Just because Chinese and Russian people listen to rap music and eat McDonald's doesn't mean they are now Americanized and have been conquered. If so, that would mean those who eat corned beef and cabbage while listening to Gaelic music would be Irish. Obviously, it doesn't work that way....

Not gonna argue, but all I'm gonna say is, Ice Cube was one of the main forces behind 'Straight Outta Compton', someone you'd think would be behind the small minority that are crying racism. But he outrightly said the whole thing is ridiculous so that basically ends it. Everyone knows the Smith's are just sore because Will's Oscar bait flick didn't come up trumps.

Funny thing is, some people want everyone to boycott the Oscar's, but all this fuss and outrage will probably give the award ceremony a massive boost.
