Watched the launch live this morning :)

(Thanks for the link, Hicks.)

I especially loved the guy who was just casually jotting stuff down as a rocket shot him into space.

Technically not a fresh ''In The News'' story but wasn't sure of the best place to post it.

QuoteYes. If the wealthy person has worked himself to the bone and made his fortune, why the hell should he not reap the rewards and pass it on to future generations in his family so that his children will not want for anything? The people on the bottom are the entitled ones because they spend their time crying and complaining about how much the system works against them and how nothing they do is their fault. They do not take responsibility for their actions. Their failure in life is due to their shitty choices in life, not because the man is keeping them under his thumb.

Wow Doom, really? Is that truly what you believe or are you just bitter?
If it's the former then I'm really sorry for you because you are then a huge part of the problem - enabling corporate welfare while fighting against welfare for the people. You're a reversed Robin Hood. Luxury for the rich over equality for the masses.

QuoteOh, don't give me that rubbish. Welcome to the free market which is the crux of capitalism. People build something and they get to keep it.

Haha! Now you're trolling! No?

The free market is a hoax, as it isn't free at all - it's a pyramid scheme. People build things based on a line of former products, ideas and inventions, usually stemming to government (funded) research or in one way or another enabled by government institutions, subventions, programs etc. Infrastructure is a crux in society - payed with taxes. The list goes on. We're all dependent in one way or another at least once in our lives. Even rich people.

Also, the creator and the patent maker are often two different things. Middlemen and investors, venture capitalists are the ones reaping the true profits, without really lifting a finger. The workers are treated like shit and the people coming up with ideas are bought and "silenced" (assimilated). There is NO coloration whatsoever between labor and income. Just because you work hard doesn't mean shit unless you already have the money.

Your glorification of rich people and your contempt for regular people and especially poor people is directly horrifying. May I ask what made you get this way? I remember that you were a more empathic, considerate and progressive person before, despite your aversion for feminism.
Did you read "Atlas Shrugged" or "Fountain-Head" by any chance? ;)

Also, socialism and capitalism aren't enemies and polar opposites. In reality every successful democracy around the world incorporate both systems to balance things. Some places are more capitalist, some more socialist. Laisez Faire capitalism (championed by right-wing Libertarians) is just as much of a impossible utopian dream as communism is. They're just on two opposite sides of the spectrum.

All this talk of Capitalism and the Free Market reminded me of a picture I saw that highlights the hierarchy of a corporation.

Hold on a sec...

Doomrulz, you are starting to sound like a Baby Boomer.

Ouch, but he does.

Also we just went though the tough shit debate and in a free market there is no protections for keeping something that you built. You still gotta pay them property taxes and avoid hostile takeovers if we're talking about a business, etcetera. A free market is survival of the fittest or more legitimately; the strong shall dine on the weak.

Absolutely true. I've known successful people who are supporters of capitalism, and even they acknowledge that it is a completely amoral economic system.

I guess I'm old-fashioned :P

The free market for me means creating a product and fostering a demand. If people want it, they should be able to purchase it for as long as they want free of regulation. You can't fault a business for supplying what is in demand.

Then by all means, keep blaming someone else for your shortcomings and tell me how far it gets you in life.

*waves hand in the air* You don't want to sell me free market economics. You want to go home and rethink your life.

Funnily enough that type of economic system does exist, it's called Pakistan. Would you want to set up shop there?

It also exists in the Western world. It's why Activision keeps pumping out Call of Duties even though that franchise sucks.

After tonight's Republican debates I have lost all hope that a non-radical runner will get the spot. I wish so woefully that Rand Paul and Jeb Bush or even Kasich get a boost in the caucus because the thought of Cruz or Trump terrifies me.

I was thoroughly entertained by Paul and Bush's shutdowns towards Trump's childish rhetoric. Good on you, Jeb.

I agree with their point about removing dictators. The way we've done it in the past doesn't work. Regime changes are almost always bad. I still think Assad's a piece of shit, believe me, but Russia said they'd move towards open election for Syria. That's more than we had before.

And finally, this little piece is what made the f***** debate for me.
"So you are OK with the death of thousands of innocent children and civilians?" Hewitt pressed. Amid loud boos from the audience Carson said, "You got it."

Yeah, pretty sure it is going to come down to those too. And also with regards to Carson: I might be wrong, but was he essentially saying bombing those civilians is an act of mercy, because they're going to die quicker than at the hands of ISIS or Assad?

HAHA. They're still no EA. However our market is surprisingly fairly well regulated. If it were to be allowed to run free, it would be anarchy. Deregulation has helped mess thing ups over the past 40 years.

It's War. When you make war, innocent people will die. However it's the choice that one has to make. Accepting the truth doesn't make someone evil.
