Yep.

Jesse's does make a point though. Does the military fight for our freedom? Having a military in itself ensures our freedom but when was the last time we utilized it to fight an actual treat to our freedom? 911? ISIS? Veitnam?

You can't really fight for freedom unless the force you're fighting against I trying to remove it.  The Nazis and Japan weren't really in a position to remove Americas freedom.  The merits of Korea, Vietnam, and the various Middle East invasions are really neither here nor there.

Those who sign up deserve a certain level of respect simply for putting themselves in harms way.  They don't get to pick and choose where and whom they fight.

However this whole "They're fighting for your freedom" is jingoistic wank.

I think Korea was definitely a war over freedom considering they spent the last century a Japanese/Chinese puppet colony and then got broken up into two seperate states by the USA/Soviet Union/China.

South Korea warn't exactly a free and democratic society until the '80s, either.

It seems people are still taking about Matt Taylor and #ShirtGate. All this over a f**king t-shirt; unbelievable. Talk about faux outrage.
