misogyny? I swear that word is thrown around so much that it's lost all meaning.

That's like all racialist.

Like the n word, they've taken that word back for themselves.  Only a cancer can say "My canca" to another.  Same with "My misogynista".

So Twitter has a reporting tool now and that's news?  I would've thought they already had one.  How is that worse than our report-to-moderater button?

It's the thing about it being used to fight #GamerGate that I think Doom is adverse to.

I'm glad there's at least one person here who sees the real issue. I hate censorship. I also hate it when people make connections that don't exist. I really don't know what the men's movement has to do with the link I provided. But this is typical I find. People need to find some scapegoat and the MRM is an easy target. For some reason, if you criticise a woman for a perceived mistake (and I mean criticise, not be a troll about it), it's labeled as misogyny these days. Criticising someone doesn't mean you hate them.

I can't recall the last time someone accused someone of criticising a man of misandry. But I guess people love the idea of frail, weak women, hence all this protection nonsense.

I think it's more the whole association thing with #GamerGate. Seems to be 2 sides to it - that gamers are all sexist pigs, merely attacking females involved in the industry or the other side is that gaming journalism is corrupt. I've read that many interpretations of the thing that it's just become another one of those stupid messes that I care little about.

Which is precisely everything GamerGate isn't. There's enough information out there to prove that otherweise. Heck, it's part of the reason why #NotYourShield was born. GamerGate was always about corruption in gaming journalism. It's got nothing to do with harassing women online. There's lots to it, but here's something to give you an idea.

But because we're dealing professional victims like Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn, it's easy for them to cry about "harassment" and gain sympathy. Sites like Gawker, Gamasutra, Polygon, and Kotaku are already feeling the effects of GamerGate, as advertisers like Intel are pulling their ads from the respective sites and they're losing money as a result. This is what happens when you stir shit up, especially with a group of people who are as devoted to a cause like gamers.

In a post defending gamergaters against accusations of sexism/ misogyny, it took you no time at all to turn to victim blaming before dismissing the threats of sexual violence, death threats and even bomb threats those women have received. Amazing.

The way both sides are handling this is really terrible. And it's made such a terrible mess of the situation that people might not be aware of the truth. I'm certainly not. I've read a bunch of articles on both sides and it's all just a massive clusterf**k. Both sides are just pointing the fingers and insulting each other back.

Do I think their corruption in the gaming journalism industry? Of course. I've read IGN reviews, I know. Do I think their sexism on the part of gamers? Damn right, I do. I think their sexism everywhere. It's unfortunate that they both insist on making asses of themselves.
