I've read that Ebola 'burns out' pretty quickly once symptoms show up.  If there's an outbreak in some remote village, anyone who contracts it is more often than not, dead - and so is the disease itself - by the time help arrives.

Yep. It's too good at killing to spread effectively.

I suppose I don't trust google's random internet opinions as much as you do. :P

That's why - when you do research - you generally look at more than one link.

You know, we need a snooty smiley... that would probably convey the silliness better than the :P smiley did.

In any case, no, actually, I don't care.  :)

I once tried to use nair.  My body hair just laughed at it.

That stuff is bad for your skin, dude. Avoid it. If you're honestly considering hair removal, go for laser.

QuoteErrm but on a flight from say...Ghana, most of the people on board will probably be Ghanaian African.

The current outbreak is confined to Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria and Guinea - so no problem with anyone coming from Ghana.

And even if someone was coming from Nigeria, for example - unless they've been in an affected area, no need to screen them.  Screening everyone from every flight is ludicrously unrealistic.

QuoteEbola has no cure or effective treatment and it does pose a significant threat to public health if it were to become transmissible by other means.

Eh?  Over a third of people who get it, survive.

Someone else allergic to facts....

K...the BBC says it has a 90% kill rate, that's pretty high.

Ghana does have the problem but its not as high at the moment.

Ebola (and other fatal virusses) strikes poor Africans in limited numbers, hence big pharma corporations has little incentive to develop effective counter measures/vaccines. It was the same deal with HIV/AIDS, until that spread from Africa to the West and started being transmitted to the 'innocent', meaning people outside the gay community.

You left out where it says "up to" 90%.

As I said earlier if you look at the recorded cases since 1976 vs deaths - it's about 67%.

QuoteGhana does have the problem but its not as high at the moment.

Where are you reading this?  Only thing I can find is as of August 2, there are no cases in Ghana.
