The bigger point though is they grouped people together that were at all different levels. In first grade I got help for reading and writing and ended up at what they considered a high school level by 4th grade, but this kid seemed to have missed whatever help I got, and he wasn't getting it at age 15. Apparently my teachers thought I was writing at a college level by the time I graduated, but I'm not even confident in the way I use punctuation.

I pieced together half of what I know about writing through online forums. I'm not kidding at all. Without an internet connection, I would have stagnated years ago.

Someone on xbox forums 8 years ago complained about my lack of periods, so I decided to type as best I could everytime from then on. Open ended practice that's not limited to whatever pre-selected politically correct topics or writing prompts at school helps a lot.
