Just curious what you found annoying about his voice?
It just sounded incredibly over the top and corny. I'd expect something like it in a god-awful YouTube video not in a major motion picture directed by Ridley Scott.

I thought it sounded affected. But the actor is probably doing that on purpose. Remember, Walter isn't supposed to sound quite human.

Nah, I'll just say that when you're a bit older perhaps you'll appreciate that things aren't quite as bleak as you imagine.

'"The world is a fine place, and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part.'

Nyarlathotep

I think they succeed a little too well with that.

I watched the prologue again and he does seem to be trying to hard to sound human. Even the smile seems awkward.

"Please insure to consume the requisite liquid and vitamin pack."

That line sounded strange.

That's the point, I think.

Fassbender is great as usual.
Waterston is a natural.
Tess Haubrich is cute.
Billy Crudup is really good, reminds me of Gorman from Aliens.

The rest I don't care about.  Danny McBride is annoying.  A gay couple is progressive and forward thinking but I'd prefer lesbians (just my preference, but then people would complain exploitation).  James Franco is another annoying guy.

I'm 50/50 with this cast.

Depends if they look like normal people, or the tired old stereotypical 'hot lesbians'.

I wouldn't expect it to look like something out of a porn movie.

Then why would it be any more exploitative than the gay guys we have now?

If one accepts the 'why are there gay guys on a colonising mission?' argument; it actually makes more sense to take a lesbian couple because they're both physically capable of bearing children.

Because it's like the shower scene, anything sexual that may appeal to straight males is labelled exploitation by some.  They don't have to be stereotypical 'hot lesbians'.

I, too, found Fassbender's accent to be spotty. Which is odd, because his American accent is usually acceptable. I think it's because they used production audio to make that viral video - no additional dialogue recording done to make it sound better. It ends up sounding thin and murky, like a TV movie or an amateur film. Fassbender's performance was also surprisingly wooden, like it was in the viral for The Counselor directed by Jake Scott.

Scorpio

Fassbender sounded like he was trying to do an American accent (his American accent in Assassin's Creed is spotty as well), but then reverts back to David's voice in the second half of the clip.  Fassbender is actually Irish.

He also speaks fluent German. And in Inglorious Basterds, the Germans in that film thought his accent sounded odd. :)

I don't think Walter sounded "American" at all, in the new viral. He just didn't sound like David did. I don't see the issue, here. I want him to be at least somewhat different than his forebear.

Poor Franco. Hardly in the movie and people are calling him annoying. He didn't quite seem like a captain, to me, in this scene, but if he's sick, maybe it robbed him of his commanding aura.

The doors closing in the short,  was that possibly a shout out to MST3K?

Not that I believe for a second that AC will fall into the same category as films which Joel and Mike reviewed with Crow and Servo.

Too many morons on here talking about the gay guy's. Get over it, you all sound like bigoted old men.
