How do I "tag" things? ???

EDIT: Wait, tagging things is like you choosing the visual and auditory stuff in mu-th-ur mode, right?  Btw, the Alien Anthology won't start up again.  What gives?  It was working fine last night. :(

EDIT: I got it working again, somehow.  I have no idea what makes it work and what doesn't. ???

MU-TH-UR Mode is the Alien Anthology's interactive BD-Java-powered "experience." If you turn the mode on while watching the films, an interface appears, partially covering the left side of the frame. From here, you can switch between audio stream content (commentaries and isolated scores) and view the "Weyland-Yutani Datastream," a glorified trivia track of compiled production notes, anecdotes, and film facts. The main purpose of MU-TH-UR Mode, however, is the "data tags." I'll explain. As you view the films, you'll see a list of special features—pertaining to the specific scene you're watching—appear on the MU-TH-UR interface. Clicking on a feature creates a "data tag," which can be recalled when you boot up discs five or six, where most of the supplementary materials or stored. Basically, it's a way of personalizing and keeping track of what special features you want to watch. While the interface is indeed slick, there are two problems here: 1.) If you're like me, when you watch a film you like to, you know, watch the fim, not keep track of a list of bonus materials, and 2.) Most fans will want to hit up all of the supplementary materials eventually, making MU-TH-UR Mode seem a bit redundant.

I'm thinking of watching the datastream.  Is any of it interesting?

Yes.

But I tend to agree that MU-TH-UR mode is a bit redundant for the hardcore fan since they're just sit down and watch everything.

I saw all 4 films with MU-TH-UR Mode and loved it.  It got me interested in the commentaries. :)

Heard them all before on the DVDs.  Several times.

I will sit down and watch them with the Datastream option at some point.  But I've yet to watch all the films themselves as yet.

If you have the quad the datastream and the enhancement pods are really the selling points imo.  Everything else is pretty much the same stuff with a bluray makeover.

That said, the visual enhancements are stupid good.  And the added audio in Alien 3 SE makes me happy face.

Google 'Vizio issues'.

Not good stuff mate.

Google-ing any brand with 'issues' on the end is bound to yield not so positive results. :P  Vizio actually makes some good product.  I don't have any of their stuff myself, but I know some people that do that swear by them as well as I've read a lot of positive things about them, especially their more recent line of products.

Am I the only one here who got the Limited Edition? ???  I got 1355 of 5000, btw.  Man, that sculpture is just beautiful.  Though, my dad thinks I'm an idiot for buying what he believes is a toy for a "preschooler" and not for someone who is a "college student".  I didn't tell him that it could light up, but I doubt that would make any better an impression on him.

it's art, not a toy, no offense to your dad, but, what a douche. i guess some people don't "get" art.

What specifially did they improve with the Alien3 assembly cut audio? I'd seen it as a listed improvement over the DVD releases but couldn't make out how its different when re-watching the film on blu-ray.

you don't remember the fact that half of the audio in added scenes had awful noise in the background?

Don't worry about it, I pretty much see him the same way.  He's too old fashioned.  He'll claim that manga is only for kids, but then he'd yell if I ever showed a violent or pornographic manga to kids (not that I've ever done it or dreamed of doing it, it's a hypothetical situation), then later he'll go back to chastizing me for reading preschooler material.

I'd call it more a gimmick than art.  I wish it was a toy then I might've been more inclined to get the 'Limited edition'

.

Some of the cast came back to loop their dialogue.  Not watched it yet to see how it came out.

Really?  It was one of the first things I watched for Alien 3.  I wanted to see how it turned out.  It was just that one deleted scene in the opening where Clemens finds Ripley on the beach, right?

No.  Several scenes have re-recorded dialogue, and even when there is no ADR present, the entire mix is better.  More ambient sounds, better integration of sounds/music/dialogue, less (almost none) on set noise.

If you can, set yourself up to watch pieces of the two versions side by side.  You'll be happily surprised by how much better it is.  (Two great examples are the opening you mentioned; when Clemens brings Ripley inside, and the big "f**k this thing, let's fight it!" speech.)
