Imagine if you will

After the company names (gear bla bla), (timegate poop), we get the original black screen with the blue light from aliens, the menu pops up. Here are your standard options, we choose new game.

The intro starts with flickering images in black and white of a fire fight (pulse rifles sounding off). Marines pinned down. Return fire is being given from the marines and a clear ammo counter is running down. CLANK! "ammo out!" The marines cover is being blown apart and riddled with bullets from an unknown enemy.

Darkness again and heavy breathing (smalls arms fire going off). screen flicks again to the back of a marine squatting behind another cover. A hand reaches out and pulls the marine from the shoulder into cover when a blast goes off from the other side of their barrier. The marine tells the other "your lucky day Crowe" Crowe:"WO! bring on the fire works you shit heads", just then Crowe tosses a grenade over the cover, the other marine yells "grenade in!". The camera pans down, Flashes of lights from the explosion cast a shadow of the barrier and the cameras pans up to show an overhead support beam come crashing down. Darkness once again.

The screen is dark now. Only the sound of a heart beating with a slow and calming sound of breathing. The sound now of a blinking cursor from aliens. The screen opens from behind a set of eye lids. A prompt to look around for controller vertical and horizontal mapping comes on asking to look up and look sideways. The image begins to sharpen, looking up you notice a small blue light from behind a foggy glass (the heart beat and breathing continues), looking down now shows a chest with ECG stickies on a pair of millitary briefs and wiggling toes. Looking sideways you see out of the foggy glass another marine waking from hyper sleep. Looking in the other direction an already open hyper sleep chamber and on your glass vitals (showing EKG rhythm) and tactical output data, then BAMM! and a quick auto pan of the camera back to the other horizontal, shows a fist on the glass. The marine who did this says through the foggy glass in a toned out voice, "rise and shine asshole", as a hand with a middle finger comes up in return.

The door opens and out swings the marines legs. Once they hit the floor he says under his breathe "damn thats cold". He gets up and moves to his locker. Marines around him are getting dressed, a synthetic is seen looking down with a digital pad marking off points, he looks up at you and says "good morning Cpl. Winter", Winter replies "You too bishop". The camera pans to his locker as a hand opens it and a topless girl holding a colt 1911 is sitting atop a crate that reads "I eat lead for breakfast". Just then the door closes and a female marine is standing there. She looks down and up and says "you look like shit", Winter replies "That never stopped you before". Female "come on lets get some grub".

Just then an alarm is sounded and a few already dressed marines go running out of the locker room. Female solider says "come on, get your shit together", Winter replies "Anything to be behind you mam". Winter opens his locker, reaches inside for a tang top, and a pair of boots.

The scene then goes to winter running and falling inline with his platoon. The chatter is already going on when winter arrives and asks whats the detail. Here we see Cruz come in and quiet everyone down, he gives a brief synopsis of the distress signal received from the Sulaco and goes on to tell them to gear up.

Once Cruz tells them to get moving, another solider looks at Winter and says in a quiet voice, "winter your brother", Winter replies "keep it together, if there is anyone that knows how to stay alive its Crowe."

Winter gets called out from Cruz and the game starts from here as planned.

Damn this would have been the immersion needed to start on such a story as the one presented but the ball as many of us know it was not just dropped, it was completely disregarded. Hopefully Gearbox will just update the patch with the E3 code and include those animations where appropriate. GIVE US THE DEMO!!! Oh well here's hoping! Fingers crossed.
