I love the Alien 3 lips, they're so damn creepy. The scene where it bears its blood-soaked teeth at Golic is awesome.

Assuming you mean ribs, it's probably because the static puppets in the second film were so much taller than the first Alien. They probably needed them to balance out the look of the torso.
