No, I've just been waiting for a quality Alien product since Halloween 2001.

Also fond of using hyperbolic sarcasm in lieu of the recipient's ability to grasp the obvious.

Can someone tell me which video/s the Alien is roaring and growling in? It might just be my shitty laptop speakers, but I've only heard the "Dallas/vents" shriek so far.

I do somewhat wish they would use the insect like buzzing/tinny sounds. the Alien emits in the scenes where he kills Brett, Lambert and Parker. You have to kind of listen closely to hear it. (1minute 15seconds mark)

And one sound effect will be the deciding factor on whether it's a good game?

Yeah that's the sound I was thinking of! It just feels so visceral and creepy. Like Giger's original idea to have maggots crawling on the skull underneath the translucent dome.

I really hope that's not what people are bitching about...

That was stated anywhere when?

It's a symptom. Like the dome, a very glaring one, especially with deliberate marketing callbacks to earlier SEGA products.

The Alien should sound Alien, not like a slobbery dog. If it sounds like an animal, it's diminished in threat, the last two games have pretty much shown that definitively.

SpaceMarines

I think that had more to do with shit-tastic AI and poor gameplay design.

Everybody's very skeptical about the story. This is understandable - from a canon perspective, it's a pretty wild concept. But there's one very important detail that no one's really discussed yet. We know who the writer is.

Quote from: pcgamer.com previewCreative Assembly have tapped veteran comic book writer Dan Abnett for the story, who you may know from the Warhammer 40,000 novels or his work for Marvel.

Dan Abnett.

I rest my case.

I....is this a good thing?

[cancerblack]

Yes, Abnett has a fantastic track record writing for sci-fi.

Vertigo

Abnett's done more to flesh out the 40k universe than anything since Rogue Trader. Action's his forte obviously, but there's an incredible wealth of imagination there, with good grasp of characters and strong senses of pacing and suspense. It's in good hands.

Valaquen

He also worked for 2000AD, and on mags like Judge Dredd. Good credentials.
