For such a well painted piece there is so much wrong with the scale and perspective in that piece. The longer I look at that Alien on the right and try to work out what space it's actually in relative to anything else, the worse it gets.

Wait... there are Aliens in that picture

Oh my, the memories. Along with this (and another picture with a Predator sitting in the center) it was among my first contacts with the franchise, right before I got interested enough to play AVP2.

I remember having them as wallpaper back on my school computers when I got to secondary school.

Did they even let you? Ours were positioned to the walls, everyone could see what you were doing. At some point I wanted to install AVP Classic 2000 on mine, but I was paired with a girl and she'd tell the teacher about it.  :P

That brings back memories, I was obsessed with that game when it came out. Looking at them now, those promotional images are really strange stylistically.

I had the big prima guide with these images all over it and I loved it. I think I know where it is, might be able to still find it.

Were these promotional images for AVP Classic 2000? Didn't know.

I believe they were the promotional images for the AvP Gold version.

Look at the bottom of both images pal, I think we just got fooled.  :P

Yeah! We used to be allowed to change our wallpapers. In fact, the reason I even learned to make a website was because I saw the background of one of the IT Senior Students who had an Alien on it. Turned out he'd made his own website about AvP Classic and the AvP2 demos and he inspired me to eventually learn and make my first AvP website, AvP World.

Pretty sure they were used for both. I'm almost certain this artwork was used in the strategy manual for Classic.

One of my favourite pieces of AvP artwork.

Not possible as I have a Prima guide for AvP with those images that came out before AvP2 was in development. I remember looking at these pics while playing AvP on MPlayer before AvP2 had been announced

They must have simply reused them for AvP2's marketing.
