So one of my favourite Jim Cameron movies, The Abyss, is finally getting it's long, long overdue 4K treatment. Skip has worked with Jim on his Avatar films, etc and his known as a colourist, restoration guru.

Mods: Sorry if this was posted elsewhere.

Maybe this means we can finally get that True Lies Blu-Ray as well. ;D

Highland

I love this film. One of his best.

Corporal Hicks

I was looking forward to that 3D Aliens.  :P But I'll take a new restoration of the Abyss.  ;D

Cameron has stated that he probably needs to get around to that too!

The last thing I heard about it was that he had been sent a copy of the Blu-Ray by the studio and just had to find the time to go over it, approve it and maybe do some minor colour corrections.

Doesn't this belong in the Terminator thread?  ;D

IT'S A SMALL WORLD!
Did you know that "The Terminator" and "The Abyss" films both exist in the same universe?

Long before Marvel Studios revolutionized the concept of a cinematic shared universe, visionary writer and director James Cameron quietly decided to have both "The Terminator" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" realities exist in the same world as the events of his aquatic science fiction film "The Abyss".

Easily missed by the casual fan, this shared universe was most evident when the same television news anchor (played by actor Joe Farago) covered the one-name serial killings in "The Terminator" as well as oceanfront news in "The Abyss." Also Benthic Petroleum, the fictional company that owns and operates the undersea drilling rig in "The Abyss" also owns the gas station visited by the T-800, Sarah, and young John Connor in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day".

Nah, I gave up on that after you watched A Star is Born yet still haven't seen Bishop, Hicks and Hudson in The Terminator.  :P

Spoiler
All I've seen are ads and reviews. It looks like every other romantic musical. I don't see how two famous people as the main roles makes it any different. Big whoop. Therefore I don't get the hype and think it's a bit overrated.
