They are all over both Ethiopia and Djibouti.
I thought I hit one on a convoy once and was kinda bummed, but I saw him running away. Apparantly he was so short he (or she) cleared the front grille of the Humvee, and somehow made it between the front and back wheels without getting squished.
Dik Dik wins.
They also have lots of these in both countries.
The foxes would come pretty close to us to try and get people food, but never got to comfortable.
Also lots of striped hyena. They are adorable as babies but ugly as adults to most people. We did have one guy who thought they were "cuddly," throughout life.
Also full grown hyena are huge. We had several at our camp in Ethiopia whose heads were well above my waist. I'm 6'2". The first time I saw one I dropped my mre on the ground because my brain couldn't comprehend what I was looking at. TV doesn't do them justice, they can be monster sized. I thought I was looking at a bear.
