Guys, I know some of you have been worried about this new Predator movie. Though let's re-think this through...

Robert Rodriguez is the most talented person to touch this franchise in years. It's the same principle as Martin Campbell with Casino Royale, Christopher Nolan with Batman Begins, etc. The man knows what he's doing. Of course he's not going to shoot this a'la Sin City, or Planet Terror. This is a Predator movie. His script that was leaked was just a "for fun" thing, and it's being revised. The bare bones of it will be the same most likely, but everything else will be rectified.

PLUS, he's going to get some big actors for the roles. He's Robert Rodriguez. He's worked with 'em all. He's also trying to get Arnold to cameo.

Let's all just take the "wait and see" approach, though the "uh oh" approach is understandable, with the recent AvP flicks. But this is Robert Rodriguez. :)

I would love it if he made this like Planet Terror.  Top film.

Even if it's not, are Predator fans really not digging on this?

I think I'm more interested how this film will come out, than I was with either of those AvP pieces of shite.

I'm apathetic towards it at the moment.

That's not really saying much, though, is it? :)

(1) The screenplay was what got this project greenlit.
(2) He's said that he still does not know if it's going to be based on it, which means there's every possibility that it still shall be.
(3) It's absolutely awful.

QuotePLUS, he's going to get some big actors for the roles. He's Robert Rodriguez. He's worked with 'em all. He's also trying to get Arnold to cameo.

Which makes it even more likely it's the same story.

Exactly. It's him. The same guy who came up with that attrocious script and still thinks it's fine.

Look at it. Read it. It's a lesson in how to completely ignore what made the formula so successful.

The script is a bit out there, but there are a few points that I thought might work well.

The idea of the drone predators sounded reasonable, and the part about the renegade predator hung out to dry sounded believable. Actually seeing some kind of method to the predator madness might be a welcome change if they can keep outlandish action sequences and weird body part transferring out of the way.

I think it's safe to say it's going to be nothing like the first 2. I say bring it. We've been through the ringer and back with AVP,ive  got a hard shell to it now.

I, for some reason, actually think it will be an okay-movie. :)

I don't. History tells us 85% of remakes/reboots will suck.

The fact that its Robert Rodriguez is why Im not looking forward to this. He may make good films, but he just doesn't seem right for this kind of movie. And his predator script was ass, which scares me even more.

You obviously never read his script he wrote. Its pretty much confirmed that he is going to use this so f**k no, he doesn't know what he's doing.

Its full of bad ideas, so bad that i just couldn't even finish it. I've waited 19 years for another Predator movie and all I'm getting is pirates combined with spaceships and Predators hanging on crosses?

f**k Rodriguez, i have to correct myself, this sounds much worse then AvP-R at the moment.

I don't want it to be like Sin City with all the green screen stuff, if i want to watch something like this i would watch Sin City, not Predator. This should be old school, handmade action and not all digital shit.

"The idea is it that we shoot this in the soundstage so i can walk up in there and take a camera and shoot the coolest scenes" What kind of statement is this, this isn't a f**king Holiday fanmovie, he doesn't take this serious at all.

Of course I'm going to wait and see, not much choice anyway, but if it really turns out to be like that I'm not going to bother watching this at all. I dont need another AvP or Alien Rez.

I have big hopes for this movie and he is using a new screenplay which is good and the old one is 15 years old when he was still a newbie with movies at the time. I believe this will be better then any of the AVP movies that we have got. It might get a awesome rating on RT but it will be a good movie never less.

The man did Spy Kids... There is no way he should've EVER gotten the greenlight to do a Predator movie.

I'm not going to accept this new film as canon. No way. Not ever...

For starters, the studio are not going to green light "old School , hand made action" , the only reason this got picked up was because of Rodriguez and the script. The world was hardly crying out for predator 3.

You can kiss anything remotely like the previous 2 goodbye. if that's good or bad , we're just going to have to wait and see.

The man has made some good movies, so there is hope.

He's also done decent stuff, like 'The Faculty'. Anderson has a similar problem, though: Good at directing, but shouldn't go near the actual writing process.

I have a very bad feeling about this... I just feel like somehow... I'm going to be betrayed.

I personally grew up with the Predator species as something to look up to as a kid, I found the creature to be more interesting than the human characters. When Stephen Hopkins introduced the honor thing and when Perry expanded upon it, I grew to admire the Predator character even more. This is why I found AvP and AvP-R enjoyable to me because it took elements from Perry's material..

Go ahead, point fingers and laugh.

I just have this bad feeling that somehow... I'm going to be betrayed and my childhood is going to be pissed away.

It's a deep rooted thing.

For people who are putting words in my mouth, the "handmade action" comment wasn't meant to say anything about the studio or its decisions, of course this was greenlit because of Rodriguez and his script, now its up to him if he makes an all digital shit or actually makes it old school.

I don't need no 300 or Sin City mixed up with Predators, if i wanna see that i would watch f**king 300 or Sin City.
