Cheeeeeestbustaaaaaahhh!!! Actually, the story of the actors not knowing about the scene, is partially true. They knew, but not very much. For example Veronica Cartwright didn't know about the blood squirting on her. Or so the AvPvT has heard.

The only thing that made the scene gory was the fact that the room it happened was very bright and very white. So the blood was an attractive colour in which meets your eyes easier and is easy to see all of the walls, people, food and table.

The first film of course still get this odd feeling when Kane is burping at the same time the
chestburster is smashing out of his rib cage, all else post are really knock off,i don't mean to
criticize the other movies,the first one set the barr .

When it came out Alien was one of the most shocking movies to grace the silver screen. This is why it is epic win. It's like SAW shock value X10.

The article doesn't speak of "the goriest", but "greatest". And this scene, while not being the ultimate gore one can imagine, is definitely greatest. A total shock for the one watching - and it seems as though it was the same for actors...
