The Eighth Passenger should offset that by playing Fortnite and posting videos on TikTok.

$128 just to look at my tooth.

I can either get a root canal or try to live with it.

It's not painful or too uncomfortable now, I just "feel" it like it's just there because it's a big filling, so I'll try living with it and his door is open/I got his card should it get too much again.

I'm just over halfway through $4000 worth of dental work.

Keep in mind a lot of us are getting on towards 40 these days.

If you have the option to do something about it now, do something now.

Dental work always gets more painful and more expensive the longer you leave it.

Well I've made an appointment for my next filling with my regular dentist next Tuesday so I'll talk about it with him too but I do appreciate the second opinion it's something to keep in mind.

Why are Canucks and Kiwis paying for dental work?  I thought that was just something Yanks had to deal with.

Normally with my regular dentist mine is covered by the Ontario Disability Support Program because autism, but this was a specialist.

And for transparency sake I can afford a root canal and I'm not deterred by the pain associated a root canal, I'm just trying to figure out what the best course is.

100% get the root canal.

When healthcare was socialised here, the dentists kicked up a huge stink and refused to participate, so we pay hundreds or thousands for relatively simple procedures. No disability services subsidise it beyond $300, which is enough for a consult and one small filling at best, and 95% of jobs do not have a dental plan.

But that's bad.

Yes, yes it is. We've also had an average of one ram-raid per night all this year, and the number of (known, real number is likely double) patched gang members is higher than the number of police for the first time ever, and I am leaving soon.

Also in regards to the gangs, we do silly stuff like this too.

The pain most people associate with a root canal is the whole "your teeth is rotting from the inside" part. The actual root canal is painless and the residual pain is often managed with OTC meds.

We also have to pay for dental, and it's something people are trying to get onto Medicare.

I'm not sure about the Kiwis and Canucks but we have the option for "extras cover" in Australia, which just covers your non-hospital medical expenses -- remedial massage, glasses, dental, etc. It's reasonably affordable and good value if you actually use it.

My wife and I pay a bit extra, but we get major dental and orthodontics included, which is nice. Our plan has cost us $3,420 for the two of us since 2020, but we've claimed back that just on dental -- some Invisalign, a tooth extraction, two regular check and cleans a year. Add my glasses, some remedial massage, and freakin' free sunscreen and we've actually got more out of it than we put in.

A lot of dentists here also do really good payment plans, and there are dentist-lead subscriptions that take about 25% off your dental bills for sweet nothing.
