The pain most people associate with a root canal is the whole "your teeth is rotting from the inside" part. The actual root canal is painless and the residual pain is often managed with OTC meds.
Quote from: Local Trouble on Oct 24, 2022, 08:12:54 PMWhy are Canucks and Kiwis paying for dental work? I thought that was just something Yanks had to deal with.
We also have to pay for dental, and it's something people are trying to get onto Medicare.
I'm not sure about the Kiwis and Canucks but we have the option for "extras cover" in Australia, which just covers your non-hospital medical expenses -- remedial massage, glasses, dental, etc. It's reasonably affordable and good value if you actually use it.
My wife and I pay a bit extra, but we get major dental and orthodontics included, which is nice. Our plan has cost us $3,420 for the two of us since 2020, but we've claimed back that just on dental -- some Invisalign, a tooth extraction, two regular check and cleans a year. Add my glasses, some remedial massage, and freakin' free sunscreen and we've actually got more out of it than we put in.
A lot of dentists here also do really good payment plans, and there are dentist-lead subscriptions that take about 25% off your dental bills for sweet nothing.
