Event Horizon 6.5/10

Great and suspenseful start. It made me jittery and unnerved. Unfortunately, it starts to break down at about the 2/3 mark. Sam Neill kicking-ass was awesome,

Jaws: The Revenge

You know what? I was actually going to write a scathing review of this film. I was going to rip it to shreds with a detailed and critical analysis.

Instead, I've simply decided to post up the following image I took after pausing the film at just the right nanosecond. I think it perfectly sums up the ineptitude of Jaws: The Revenge.

Enjoy.

What is that?

The last movies that I watched were Alien and Aliens. I just finished the second one not 10 minutes ago. There was a marathon on AMC.

Alien 10/10 Great plot, backed up with amazing visuals and superb acting. It does everything right: believable and relatable characters, moments that continue to scare and surprise after the fourth or fifth viewing, suspense that just doesn't relent, sets and backdrops that seem real and practical, it has a certain "feeling" to it that I just can't describe in words, and, of course, the eponymous Alien.

Aliens 9/10 Great plot, backed up with amazing visuals and mostly great acting. This film does most things right: suspense, characters, plot, sets, backdrops, guns, dropships, APCs, explosions, more guns, flamethrowers, and many many memorable lines. Oh, yes, and Aliens. Many, many Aliens. Some drawbacks are: some of the characters just aren't that believable or relatable (most of the Marines), not all of the actors or actresses were that great (although all the lead ones were), and it just didn't have the same "feeling" to it that Alien had.

What is that?

The shark being impaled by a boat. Jaws: The Revenge is a terrible, terrible film.
30 Days of Night. This is how I like my monster movies: violent, sadistic and somewhat believable. Showed it to my sis when she got back from New Moon. ;D

There was a videogame - Jaws Unleashed, that acted as a fifth story. Never heard of a film, though.

It was an Italian movie called Cruel Jaws, but was released in America as Jaws 5, Cruel Jaws.
It was from the director of terminator 2 (The bad one) Robowar, Porno Holocaust and Nazi Extermination Love Camp, a guy by the name of Bruno Mattei. It is basically a ripoff of the first movie. Check out the Cinema Snob, he does a video review of it.

Their is a unofficial Italian sequel just like how their is a unofficial Italian sequel to Alien and Terminator also.
