Yep four obvious kids for the grinder,
they probably roughly fit the discription of the characters in the story board so i think thats why they just pop up all four.
None of them look like they can tell a good story or make a difference (with all respect to them as actors)
but they sure will do fine by getting picked off like cookies in the jar.

That was bizarre. The whole way through I kept waiting for him to show up in more flashbacks, but then he never did.
I think that dream sequence is the most horrible visuals and acting (the kid) I've ever seen in a Ridley Scott movie.
It was bizarre casting indeed. There were a lot of very very questionable choices made in Prometheus......who the hell knows what was really going on. Maybe it was an entire movie of Ridley ideas such as the golden idea in the original Alien of "the alien kills Ripley and then talks in her voice" ending.
While you are saying that it comes to my mind it looked like they already casted and contracted the Patrick Wilson guy,
and with Lindelof at it and Ridley its like they both had a separate story and they made one together and mashed it all up in the end because the studio needed an answer and a direction because time was running out,
Well yeah, if you want more evidence of how unfinished their scripting work was just look at the casting of Guy Pearce as a 90-100 year old man. They had planned on dream sequences with him being young but that got cut and then they were contracted into having him in the movie.....another great actor wasted. You think they would have scrambled to have a scene where the Engineer actually reverse ages him and then turns him to mush! Like the opposite of the ending of The Last Crusade!

Looks like Billy Crudup has been cast, another good actor. Very happy with the casting for this movie.

What a fine actor! He'll do just right under Ridley's guidance!

Covenant could be just great, and I think that's going to be the case... ::)

I personally never considered Prometheus a failure, but a mere drop in some aspects of writing and character development (other problems: too much ambiguity, and lack of psychological horror). No one can really say that main ideas in that movie were bad, on the contrary, ideas and motif (mythological, religious and philosophical) were great.. and so I hope that Ridley is going to fix mistakes from Prometheus (characters, story development and too much ambiguity) and give us a great story about Engineers, humans, androids and xenos... and maybe someone new.. :-*

If he fail to deliver a satisfying movie, then we can say goodbye to this franchise and to two other planed sequels (in fact prequels to Alien)...and that fact was surley in the minds of Ridley's and others from Fox... They know what this movie must be and what it doesnt... I myself would consider Covenant a failiure if they disregard all the story they told in Prometheus... This movie must in some extent explain the story of Engineers and explain major questions from Alien and Prometheus (not all, because mystery is essential): What part will humans and David play in Xeno and Engineer story, why they want to destroy humans, who created xeno and why, space jockey... I dont want  full answers, but movie need to show us something that will lead us to some answers. They also need more psychological horror, mystery, great questions and a few answers (few big hints will sufice)... Prometheus failed there, because that movie just imposed number of questions without any concrete answers...

I m very optimistic about this one...

P.S. I'm satisfied with cast choices...

The casting has been pretty great. Billy Cudrup is a great actor, these announcements have got me hyped. The only thing that is keeping me on the ground is the script. I'm really worried about it.

Federick Gonsa

J. Edgar Hoover was NOT an American president. He was Director of the FBI.

We are probably going to find out the names of other actors in Covenant afther the Oscar
if there is any more actors in Covenant... ;D

My personal thought is that they are keeping one or two big names to announce...
Just a presumption, but there is certanly place for a few more
actors, its a colony ship after all... :D

I would like to see Tom Hardy...
What about you?

Astronoë

Plz no big names...

and I want her..

I love Crudup's acting, so I hope he gets it. The Aliens have zero chance against Dr. Manhattan, though. Also:

You know what, i hope the movie will have a duration of lets say 6 hours.
Why not? wouldnt that be the biggest trip ever, make a space journey mystery movie that rolls for like 6 hours.
I heard the Phantom Menace cut was 6 hours and some who saw it said it was mind boggling.
Anyway way why hold on to the simple 2 hour plus duration.
If you are going to make a good movie just go all the way and break some rules.
Prometheus is also 2 hours but when i watch it i dont feel like ive watched a two hour movie.

@tmjhur

Yeah same exact point with Pearce , yeah and what ever happened with those cool memorable death scenes like in Indiana jones with the nazi's.
I wanna see people get hurt and get punished for their bad greedy behaviour.

This is so far the most promising news I've heard about this movie.
