But I was thinking that the space effects of Jupiter one and the star fields and even the arrival at Jupiter scene look better than the space effects in Alien, and 2001 is 10 years older.

Not your imagination! I totally agree. I could never understand how that film looked so damn real compared to ones that came after it.
I also think the bit where Dave gets back on the ship and he ignores Hal is quite unnerving. Very tense. The sound design and camera work is really good. My favourite part of the film for sure.
