I'm thinking that inside the containers are(looking at a previous stills)flying bug/insect type creatures.When disturbed in one way or another hatch and primarily do the job of a face-hugger. The dead! humanoid/creature on the floor in one of the latest pictures could be that of a space jockey. So many options and opinions on what could be the roll of the jockeys etc. But The Master Ridley Scott rarely disappoints,I'm expecting good things from this,too much is at stake to mess up with,enjoy...

I don't think it's an egg or Space Jockey/Engineer head. It's a lot more likely to be something we've never seen.

If only because alleged 'eyelids' aren't bone and don't fossilise.

And if it was an egg, we all know something would've already happened.

Giger's 1978 concept painting 'Alien Hieroglyphics' always intrigued and bothered me, as it shows a race of beings purposefully impregnating each other to create aliens.

I don't think Giger's intention was ever to demonstrate them deliberately using it on one another. Simply to depict an understanding of the life cycle.

I agree they do look like Jockeys, but maybe more half Jockey, half human?

They were an early concept design of the Space Jockeys species.

Oh wow, nicely spotted my friend.  I pointed out the Centurion style of the helmet but somehow I completely missed the obvious reference.

Does that mean that Gladiator is now canonical to Alien?!

Think too many people are looking into this jockey skull/egg object and seeing what they want to see, I could probs draw a likeness of barack obama on that thing and talk it up to look convincing.

Would be quite coincidental for that corpse to be lying next to an empty egg/vessel, maybe kane would still be laying where he was hugged if the other crew members hadn't recovered him and brought him back to the nostromo?

Hi people. I was pondering the head or egg thing when I started thinking about its position. It seems to be near the entrance, just inside the big circular stone door and I was wondering if this was a space jockey that had been decapitated by the Giger guillotine thing there.

that's definitely a dead body with its head ripped off and the body looks kinda like the River Ghost from Predators 2010
