I love Shane Black movies. But they are definitely Shane Black films. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and The Nice Guys are great movies. Iron Man 3 is a great Shane Black movie but a bad MCU movie because it was barely connected to the MCU, however it's still a pretty good flick.
Look, we are the hardcore fans of this franchise. Some of us like or even love some of the later bad films of each franchise. A big issue with the sequels is that directors keep trying to throw in homages to the originals and follow the same idea of prior films. Also, back when the AVP movies were being made Fox was notorious for being monsters during production and keeping directors and writers from doing anything that they felt wouldn't appeal to a mass audience.
Now we're with a Fox that has given us films like Logan, Deadpool, Kingsman, The Shape of Water, and the Planet of the Apes trilogy. They aren't perfect, they've made some bad movies recently but they are definitely taking risks on filmmakers now more than they were before. Perhaps a Shane Black Predator movie is exactly what we need to get this franchise back on track. Assuming it's a good movie.

I think the problem is that a lot of fans have it in their head that a predator film has to be "this" or "that".
If it doesn't conform to their personal vision of what a predator film has to be, then its garbage.
well the trailer surely dident help them out at all
it was god awful and if the trailers sucks there isent much hope for the movie itself.
100% wrong. There have been so many bad trailers for great movies and vice versa. People on here were hyped back in the day when we got the first Red Band trailer for AvP: Requiem. Tom Cruise's film, Edge of Tomorrow had a pretty bad marketing campaign and the movie was a sleeper hit. Fans and critics loved it. Zack Snyder released a movie a few years back called Sucker Punch, that trailer is amazing. The movie? Not so much.
Trailers are made my a separate marketing company and directors usually have very little to do with how the trailers come out.
