I'd wanted to enlist since childhood, thanks to the special blend of militarized American dreams that every boy shares (well, most.) I wanted to be a SEAL or Green Beret, then got a little older and realized Delta was my true dream. Rangers are awesome and Delta commonly recruits from the Regiment (75th) so I went for it.
After three of the most intense years of my life, and a few great friends in the ground, I happily left my Delta dreams behind (which were, honestly, quite achievable, at least the try-out process) and moved on for greener pastures, blonde women, and beautiful children I had always wanted to conceive.
I don't regret it, but I really am a fish out of water sometimes. Don't quite know what to do with myself.
