Speaking of the Engineers...

Spoiler
...Building Better Worlds officially states that they created the Xenomorph. And the Perfected. The Engineers referred to both as their "ungrateful children".

The thing with the expanded media is that it's essentially 'licensed fanfics' - whilst you could say this about any media, the reason I don't take them as 'gospel' is because they can (and do) tend to change at any given time. Consider, once upon a time, the novels showed us a space jockey (not an engineer), Ripley, Hicks and Newt went on to fight for an alien infested Earth, etc etc... it took one movie to release... and non of that mattered anymore. What we are getting now between the RPG and the current novels are just the *current* EU canon.. Romulus could release next year and none of it might matter anymore, and it kickstarts a new cycle. The EU are just fun "what ifs" (in my opinion) to be enjoyed (or not, depending on the book lol)... but as far as I'm concerned, if it isn't in the movies, it's just fun speculation and interpretation on behalf of the author and holds no more power than our ideas and suggestions here in the forums. Remember, Colonial Marines was canon once too.. 😊

Also, I'm fairly sure much of the description text for the Terra-Truck was copied from the article on Xenopedia.

Which I wrote, by the way.

There's been discussion about that on the Alien RPG discord. There are parts in the book that say that, as well as parts that say that they are recreating their "Destroying Angels". That along with the lore in CMOM with Jannes Ruedy's diary mentions that they're definitely recreating some ancient Lovecraftian being.

As for the Arcturus thing, they can't be human by the RPG in CMOM. They worship the Engineers, created unbelievable structures, and no humans could've changed so fast to be able to biologically swap genders by will. So have no idea why the human expedition there was mentioned.

So this imply that the xenomorph existed before? Or something else?

It also raises a continuity problem. The expedition was stated to have disappeared in the 2050s, and that the ship was the same class as the Covenant. The book states that this type of ship wasn't built until the turn of the 22nd century.

So... yeah.

Some parts of the Colonial Marines Operations Manual RPG suggest exactly that. Basically the old script versions of Prometheus. Engineers found biological immortality, stopped sexual reproduction and became stagnant. Then a decline was going on, one brave Engineer went forth into the cosmos farther then any of their species before. Found a hugger and with the after burst, created life for the first time in eons. Engineers started worshiping the Alien/s and used it's mutagenic blood to seed life amongst the stars. Either after the death of the Alien somehow, or during it's life, they created the Pathogen black goo. When the original was dead, they recreated the Alien with the Pathogen as specified in this new expansion of the RPG it seems. So don't know if the original was exactly the same, or a more Giger/Lovecraftian version.

Still a lot of mysteries and contradictions along the way. The one thing that's clear is that they're going far away from the "David created them" angle Scott wanted during Covenant. And knowing what was done in the new game Aliens Dark Descent just confirms this.

P. S. Liking that the new RPG book as well as the new game are heavily referencing the Destroying Angels comic.

So! Read a bit more closely and it's posited that that the Arcturians (and possibly Arctura! We don't know) were created from the embryos on the colony ship that crashed there. Okay, but riddle me as to how that ship existed fifty years before its class was first built. No?

The RPG (and greater franchise) seems to be scooting away from Alien 5: Prometheus 2 as far as is possible. There is barely any mention of the Covenant in this book - even less than in the CMOM - and it just feels like everyone wants to forget it ever happened. It just doesn't sit right given that it was the first long-range exocolony mission, and yet it's breezed over - in a book ABOUT space colonization - for more 3WExit nonsense.

On that subject, I am disappointed that we don't get more on the Affiance and Allegiance colony missions. This book would have been the perfect opportunity to discuss them!

Ask Andrew Gaska on Facebook, that Arcturian thing doesn't make sense. He answers questions on the Free League Alien RPG group if you tag him, but you could also just send him a message and ask politely cause I heard he answers fan questions no problem.

I hope the Space Jockeys/Pilots return as something separate from the Engineers in movie or series form one day. 8)

Call me insane but I really hope that alien rpg make a expansion With some big hint or references about the Predators

They might do, given that it's hinted the Engineers based the styling of their technology around another superior race.

Never, ever gonna happen. Gaska has stated unequivocally that Predator and AVP are entirely separate from and canonically incompatible with the Alien franchise.
