Steven Rice.

By Farzad Varahramyan. I actually have a production used copy of this piece. Love it.

One of the many gorgeous pieces Patrick Tatoplous did for Anderson's pitch.

I like Patrick Tatopoulos' work a lot.  He's worked on a lot of great movies.

I especially love his queen design - which wasn't used unfortunately but it looks great:

I actually quite liked all his out there designs for the creatures in AVP. Given the movie we got, I wish they'd gone with them.

Don't think that was Tatopolous? Wasn't that from the Steve Johnson FX artwork?

Yeah, those Tim Burton looking things weren't Patrick's.

It might not be by Tatopoulos but it's definitely inspired by his Queen design.

^That's definitely Tatopoulos right there.  It's more of an insect like Queen that obviously Cameron aspired to but couldn't pull off as well, so just gave it tiny little arms instead of 6 limbs.

I don't think he aspired to make something that looks totally unrelated to the adult creature from the previous film.

Did Johnson ever talk about those concepts? I can't remember.

James Cameron got what he wanted. If he wanted six full limbs he'd have designed it.

Constantine Sekeris, not Patrick Tatopoulos. This drawing is from before Tatops even got involved in the production
